Chennai: Actor Manikandan, who received immense praise for his outstanding performance as "Raasa Kannu" in the film Jai Bhim, has been selectively choosing roles that suit him best. Following movies like Good Night and Lover, his latest release is Kudumbasthan. Directed by Rajeshwar Kalisamy, the film features Guru Somasundaram, Sanvi Meghna, and Sundarrajan alongside Manikandan. Let’s take a look at the film's four-day box office performance.

Plot Summary:
The hero, Manikandan, falls in love with and marries Sanvi Meghna, who belongs to a different caste. Coming from a middle-class family, Manikandan works at a private company. His brother-in-law, played by Guru Somasundaram, works at a reputed firm and earns a higher salary, gaining him respect within the family. However, Manikandan, due to his lower income and inter-caste marriage, does not receive the same respect.

At a turning point, Manikandan loses his job due to an issue at his workplace. He hides this from his family and starts borrowing money at high interest to maintain the facade of earning a salary. When this truth is discovered, his brother-in-law takes the opportunity to expose it to the family, causing conflict and humiliation for Manikandan and his wife. The story revolves around how Manikandan overcomes these struggles and regains his dignity.

Excellent Choice of Story:
Manikandan, known for selecting strong scripts, has once again chosen a compelling storyline with Kudumbasthan. The film beautifully portrays the struggles of a middle-class man juggling family responsibilities, running to meet the needs of his wife and parents, and standing firm on his principles despite difficulties. Manikandan’s realistic and nuanced performance has impressed audiences, showcasing a new dimension of his acting.

The director has effectively highlighted the challenges faced by middle-class families and their daily financial struggles. As with Manikandan’s previous films, Kudumbasthan strikes a balance between humor, sentiment, and storytelling, ensuring it remains engaging throughout. Viewers have responded positively, appreciating the film’s relatability and strong narrative.

Receiving favorable reviews, Kudumbasthan collected ₹1 crore on its opening day. Over the weekend, with Saturday and Sunday being holidays, the collections rose to ₹3.3 crore. Despite Monday being a working day, the film managed to collect another ₹1 crore. In total, Kudumbasthan has grossed over ₹7.5 crore globally within its first four days. It remains to be seen how the film performs in the coming days.
