EPFO ELI UAN Activation: Deadline Extended for Aadhaar Linking
EPFO Update: The Employees' Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has extended the deadline for its members to link their bank account and Universal Account Number (UAN) with Aadhaar to February 15. Previously, the deadline was January 15.
Important Update for EPF Members
EPFO members must complete this process within the next five days to avoid complications. The deadline has already been extended multiple times, making it essential for members to complete the linking process before the new cutoff.
EPFO and the Importance of UAN Activation
The Employees' Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has made it mandatory for subscribers to activate their UAN and link it with their Aadhaar before February 15. Failure to do so may lead to difficulties in accessing EPF benefits.
One significant impact is on the Employment Linked Incentive Scheme, announced in the 2024-25 Union Budget, which requires a fully linked and activated UAN and bank account for seamless access to benefits.
Why is UAN Important?
The Universal Account Number (UAN) is a 12-digit unique identifier that remains unchanged throughout an employee's career. Even if an employee changes jobs, the UAN remains the same, and the PF account can be transferred online without needing a new UAN.
Managing EPF Account Online
EPF members can now manage their accounts entirely online, including:
✔️ Checking and downloading PF statements
✔️ Transferring PF funds when switching jobs
✔️ Applying for PF advance withdrawals
✔️ Updating Aadhaar and other personal details
