"Jannik Sinner makes history by winning his second consecutive Australian Open title. At just 23, the Italian tennis star defeated Alexander Zverev in a thrilling final, setting records with his dominant performance and marking a new milestone in Grand Slam history."

Melbourne: Italian tennis star Jannik Sinner has made history by winning the Australian Open men's singles title for the second consecutive year. Sinner entered the tournament as the defending champion and lived up to expectations.
At just 23 years old, Sinner is currently ranked as the world’s No. 1 tennis player. In the final, he faced Germany’s Alexander Zverev. Sinner showcased his aggressive playing style, clinching the title with a straight-sets victory.
The first set went in Sinner’s favor with a scoreline of 6-3. The second set was a nail-biter, going into a tiebreak where both players delivered exceptional performances. However, Sinner held his nerves and secured the second set 7-6. In the third set, Zverev seemed to lose his momentum, allowing Sinner to dominate and close out the match 6-3. With this victory, Sinner won the final 6-3, 7-6, 6-3, becoming the youngest player to win back-to-back Australian Open titles since Jim Courier achieved the feat in 1992-93.
Adding to his incredible streak, Sinner has been on a winning spree since last year’s Cincinnati Open, claiming 36 victories in his last 37 matches. Notably, he has also become the first Italian player to win three Grand Slam titles.
Sinner’s Grand Slam dominance began with his victories at the 2024 Australian Open and the US Open, and now he has defended his Australian Open crown in 2025. He has also set a record by defeating 10 opponents in straight sets during this tournament.
Meanwhile, Germany's Alexander Zverev has now lost all three Grand Slam finals he has played in. For his stellar performance, Sinner received a prize money equivalent to ₹19 lakh in Indian currency.
