Tesla Sales Slump
Tesla's sales slowdown is attributed to growing competition from new electric vehicle models and increasing public dissatisfaction with Elon Musk. Despite the European EV market reaching record-high registrations, Tesla's sales dropped by nearly 12% in the UK, 63% in France, 44% in Sweden, 38% in Norway, and 42% in the Netherlands in January.
63% Decline and Global Impact
Even in Tesla’s largest US market, California, where over 1.7 million vehicles were registered in 2024, Tesla saw a 12% decline in sales. While Tesla remains the leading EV brand in the US, this is the first time it has reported a sales dip.
Musk’s announcement of upcoming budget-friendly Tesla models has yet to reassure the market. In the UK, Tesla dropped from the second-best-selling EV brand to seventh place. Public sentiment towards Musk remains divided, with Swedish consumer confidence in Tesla plummeting by 63%, according to recent polls.
