Dehradun: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced that India is working towards hosting the 2036 Olympic Games. He emphasized that hosting the Olympics in India would improve the country's sports sector and also boost tourism.
In the Paris Olympics, over 100 Indian athletes participated, with India winning a total of six medals, including one silver and five bronze. Although some Indian athletes narrowly missed out on medals in various events, it was considered India's best Olympic performance to date.
Indian Olympic Association member Nita Ambani had previously stated that India would make efforts to host the 2036 Olympics. Following this, India expressed its interest to the International Olympic Committee to host the 2036 Games. Prime Minister Modi has also shown keen interest in hosting the Olympics in India.
The 38th National Games of India have begun in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, where Prime Minister Modi is participating. During his speech, he mentioned that hosting the Olympics would lead to advancements in all sectors, including sports facilities for athletes.
The Olympics is not just a sports event; it drives growth in various sectors such as construction, transportation, and tourism. Athletes and fans from around the world will attend, and India's sports infrastructure and opportunities for athletes will be greatly enhanced.
