The Malaysian government approved the renewed search in December 2023. MH370 took off from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing on March 8, 2014, before vanishing over the Indian Ocean. Authorities later declared that the plane had crashed into the sea and that all passengers were presumed dead.

This disappearance led to one of the largest search operations in aviation history, covering 120,000 square kilometers of the Indian Ocean. Despite intensive efforts, the aircraft has not been recovered.

A leading Australian maritime search company was also involved in previous operations, but no significant debris was found.
