Padma Awards 2025: President Droupadi Murmu declared the prestigious honors on Saturday, recognizing 137 individuals for their outstanding contributions in various domains. Among them, seven luminaries received the Padma Vibhushan, 19 were honored with the Padma Bhushan, and 113 were conferred with the Padma Shri.

Renowned vocalist Arijit Singh was awarded the Padma Shri, while legendary ghazal artist Pankaj Udhas was posthumously honored with the Padma Bhushan. The Padma Vibhushan, India’s second-highest civilian accolade, was posthumously bestowed upon eminent folk singer Sharda Sinha.

Folk musician Sinha and celebrated Malayalam screenwriter-director M.T. Vasudevan Nair were recognized posthumously with the Padma Vibhushan for their exceptional and distinguished contributions to their fields.

Telugu superstar Nandamuri Balakrishna, veteran actor Anant Nag, and Bharatnatyam performer-actor Shobana Chandrakumar were among the recipients of the Padma Bhushan, the third-highest civilian distinction.

Other notable honorees include playback singer Arijit Singh, veteran actor Ashok Saraf, theater maestro Barry John, vocalist Jaspinder Narula, and Grammy-winning composer Ricky Kej, all of whom received the Padma Shri, the fourth-highest civilian award.

The announcement of these honors is an annual tradition that coincides with the eve of Republic Day.
