Austin: The number of people from India moving to the United States for work has been steadily increasing. Meanwhile, a photo of Amul Milk being sold in a popular store there has gone viral on the internet. This highlights how much Amul has expanded its market. At the same time, the price of milk is shocking to Indians.

Indians are increasingly traveling abroad for various reasons like higher education and jobs, especially in the IT sector. However, getting Indian food and products abroad has not been easy for them. Until a few years ago, this was a major challenge for Indians living abroad. But in recent times, this situation has completely changed. Amul: Many Indian companies have started selling their products directly abroad, greatly benefiting Indians living there. In this case, a photo of Amul Milk being sold in the United States was shared on social media. It is currently trending. This photo was taken in the Costco store in Texas, where Amul Milk is available. Unlike in the U.S., where milk is sold in large plastic containers, the photo also highlights this difference. Indian Americans are now eagerly purchasing this milk.

Amul Milk In US: अब अमूल दूध पिएगा ...

The price is quite high: Amul Gold, the milk with 6% fat, is being sold at approximately $1.72 per liter. With the exchange rate of the Indian Rupee to USD at 86.58, the price of one liter of Amul Milk in India’s currency is roughly 148.92 INR. There has been a lot of online discussion around this, with many questioning why the price is so high in the U.S., especially when compared to prices in India, where a liter of milk typically costs between Rs. 50 and Rs. 65, depending on the region and fat content.

How: Some are even asking how Amul is able to export milk from India to the U.S. without it going bad. However, Amul does not directly export milk from India. Last May, Amul signed a contract with the Michigan Milk Producers Association (MMPA) in the U.S., where MMPA collects and processes the milk from American dairy farmers, and Amul markets and brands the milk. Amul has started selling milk in cities with large Indian populations like New York, New Jersey, Chicago, Washington, Dallas, and Texas, and plans to expand gradually. It's also important to note that Amul is not a private company but is operated by a dairy cooperative.
