New Zealand Revamps Golden Visa Program: Easier Rules for Wealthy Investors in 2024.
New Zealand has introduced a revamped Golden Visa program to attract wealthy investors, removing strict language requirements and easing investment rules. The new Active Investor Plus Visa, effective from April 1, 2024, offers two flexible investment options requiring NZ$5-10 million. This move comes after a decline in applications due to previous restrictions. While other countries like Spain and the UK are phasing out Golden Visas, New Zealand is making it easier for investors to contribute to its economy.

New Zealand Introduces New Golden Visa Program to Attract Wealthy Investors
New Zealand has revamped its Golden Visa program, removing restrictions such as the English language requirement.
Following the economic downturn in 2024, the country has taken this initiative to boost economic growth.
Immigration Minister Erica Stanford announced that the revised Active Investor Plus Visa will take effect from April 1. The new program offers more flexibility to encourage investors to bring their capital to New Zealand.
Previously, this visa program attracted NZ$1 billion in investments annually. However, stricter conditions introduced in 2022 led to a decline in applications.
The updated program includes two investment categories:
Growth (High Risk): Minimum investment of NZ$5 million, requiring visa holders to stay in New Zealand for at least 21 days.
Balanced (Mixed Risk): Minimum investment of NZ$10 million, requiring a stay of 105 days, with more flexibility for larger investments.
While New Zealand is easing restrictions, countries like Spain, Ireland, the UK, Greece, and Malta are moving towards abolishing their Golden Visa schemes.
