A man who was severely injured after being attacked by his son, who had returned from abroad, passed away yesterday (23rd) despite receiving treatment.
On the evening of the 19th, in the Vathirayankaddu area of Vadamarachchi East, four individuals were assaulted by people who had come from Vavuniya. Further information about the incident revealed the following:
Due to a family dispute, a person who had returned from abroad brought some men to his house and assaulted his father, brother, nephew, and sister-in-law.
All four injured individuals were initially admitted to the Maruthankerny local hospital. Two of them, requiring further treatment, were transferred to the Point Pedro Base Hospital. From there, one person was moved to the emergency unit of the Jaffna Teaching Hospital.
Despite receiving treatment for severe injuries, the father succumbed to his injuries yesterday (23rd).
Meanwhile, the returning individual from abroad, along with two others involved in the attack, have been arrested by the Maruthankerny police, and investigations are ongoing.
