Delhi: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the 2025-2026 budget today for the eighth time. In this budget, ₹4.91 lakh crore has been allocated for the military. In her budget presentation today, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman made several important announcements. The much-awaited income tax upper limit has been raised to ₹12 lakh. It was expected that the exemption would be increased up to ₹10 lakh, but it has now been raised to ₹12 lakh.

Sitharaman, who spoke for 1 hour and 14 minutes, made many other significant announcements. One of these was aimed at boosting electric vehicle sales. She announced that customs duties on lithium batteries used in electric vehicles would be completely waived. This is expected to lower the prices of electric vehicles.
