Delhi: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, while presenting the Union Budget, made several announcements that give special importance to the state of Bihar. The Finance Minister presented the financial statement for the fiscal year 2025-26 in Parliament, alongside several important announcements. A majority of the plans are allocated to the state of Bihar. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's party played a crucial role in helping the BJP government form under Prime Minister Modi. As a result, the central government has been prioritizing Bihar. Furthermore, the state will be holding its legislative elections this year. Keeping this in mind, the Finance Minister announced special projects for Bihar.

Makhana Board in Bihar: The international demand for Makhana, also known as fox nuts or lotus seeds, has been increasing. As a result, the market for Makhana is rapidly growing. Considering this, the central government has announced the establishment of a Makhana Board in Bihar. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman urged Bihar farmers to seize this opportunity. The board will be responsible for Makhana seed production, processing, value addition, and marketing.

Food Technology Institute: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman also announced the establishment of a National Food Technology Institute in Bihar. This initiative will promote food processing in East India and is expected to create job opportunities for the youth.

IIT Expansion: The expansion of the IIT campus in Patna, Bihar, was announced by the Finance Minister during the budget speech.

Airport Expansion: Due to the growing demand for air travel in India, several greenfield airports will be developed across the country. As part of this, Patna Airport will undergo an expansion.

West Kosi Canal Project: Financial assistance will be provided for the West Kosi Canal project in Bihar's Mithilanchal region.

Special Attention to Buddhist Sites: Special focus will be given to places related to the life and times of Buddha.

It is notable that Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman wore Bihar's traditional saree while presenting the budget. Following the formation of the government under Prime Minister Modi, the budget was presented in July. At that time, the central government also announced special projects for Bihar and Andhra Pradesh, which are part of the coalition.
